Hi LUGers,

Hope the 4th is going well for you.

Well this was one of the better attended meeting of my experience since
the in-person meeting left the Java Cat and we
moved a few blocks further West to the Cafe Enchante.

Once again my connection was without audio though when I hit my KCSM
connection by accdent everyone could hear the sound from my computer. I
learned to print backward to tell people to turn on their chat as when I
wrote forward no one could read the optically reversed message. This
was on a piece of 8.5 X 11 paper

At a bit before 11 AM I was online and Ken S. was the next
to arrive. He has a new notebook and MSI 66 not sure which particular
model but he had fewer problems than recently. Tell us more Ken about
your new machine, please. Ken left about 12:30 for a meal I think.

Michael Paoli called in but when
Victor from the South Bay called in and wanted to discuss using
the Terminal Michael gave a good lecture and sent along a URL to his
paper on the use of Regular Expression. Unfortunately though I tried
to copy the chat with the URL my clipboard choked and I had to wipe
it clean so unless you have already shared the URL to that paper with
the rest of the Group, please do so.
Victor left fairly early for another appointment he said.

Ron of BCLUG called in and he seemed to be drinking too at
the cup of Michael's overflowing experience & knowledge. We know
Ron is with us because he finds the BC experience a bit off-putting.

Tom came along and offered me a condenser microphone which I
held off accepting but send me an email, Tom and I will get back to you.

Aaron came in early left us for a hile and came back. Aaron
should check out Porteus which has both i586 and 64 bit versions
and uses everything from Open Box to KDE and even a Gnome version.
the 64 bit versions are accessible from the Distrowatch entry.
but if you go to <https://forum.porteus.org/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=10183>
you can find your way to the i586 downloads

As for me I shared what little news I had online already
this month. Except I had a in person One on One meeting with
Mikki McGuire to help her with her 17" Dell Ryzen laptop.

Like me she is having problems reading the screen and
made the mistake which she forgot how to correct of fixing the
display at 200% magnification, I finally found the setting
and was able to reduce the screen to normal then set fonts to
a more readable font.
As with me she does not have enough energy to keep up
with everything she wants to so when I last spoke to her she
had yet to try out the Linux Mint Debian 32 bit version on her
old netbook.

Well a bit after 1300 I said bye and left. Doubtless
more important matters are missing from my few notes.
I will say that I was distracted by the attempts I made to get
my audio working and had no success at all.

Well I hope the Attendees will write in telling us
just what I missed.

Next meeting will be on Sunday August 7, 2022
	Have a nice July.

	Bobbie Sellers
