More seriously, the major use-case for Linux Mint is "avoid some
Canonical, Ltd. kookiness and bad decisions, avoid getting pushed onto 
experimental environments, enjoy better desktop polish and artwork, 
have default improved access to restricted hardware drivers and A/V
codecs".

As we discussed on Jitsi Meet, the tradeoff is that a newcomer to Linux
Mint is presented choices, e.g., "Which desktop flavour ISO do you wish
to download?" 

Some users are choice-phobic and don't wish to think or choose or
configure or even be aware of diversity.  I'll be nice and not say 
which distro they glom onto.
