Quoting Michael Paoli <michael.paoli at berkeley.edu> from [01]:
> ... ssh, sudo, vi (or most any editor one wants).

On various commandline text editors for Linux and *BSDs, came across the
TextEditors Wiki resource[02]. This has a list of the
TextEditorFamilies[03] including the ones mentioned below.

Some Human Intelligence-generated text to work with:

This Election Season, am mostly _SHUNning_ the DEMs:

Great fleas have little fleas upon their backs to bite ’em,
And little fleas have lesser fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on;

Micro text editor [05]
Nano text editor[06]
Pico text editor[07]
Atto text editor[08]

Am currently using the slightly-advanced JOE text editor[09] (=Joe's Own
Editor) as the Emacs-equivalent[14], JMACS.

"And the great fleas themselves, in turn, have greater fleas to go on;

Michael P's preferred Vi[10] (and [01] ;-})
Nvi[11]
Vim[12]
Neovim[13]
GNU Emacs[14]

Please feel free to discuss and reveal your/others' preferred text
editors.
