TBH, I've not yet had to resort to treading down to Kinko's / FedEx
Office / etc. to do print jobs. I expect that, if I needed to, I'd
minimise the problem potential by having the to-print material in PDF
format. Might help, depending on the source of the problems.
Also, it's my experience that each such store has at least one staffer
who knows all the necessary tricks. If that person is free to help,
then you are in luck.
