The Windows key is typically embedded in the bios.
And so reinstalling Windows will just activate on its own using that key.
That way you can get an install without the OEM bloat.
Here I found a link to find that key using Linux commands:

Also Windows 10 will run forever with minor restrictions without
activation.
(At least forever until now). One restriction is a black background with
some watermark about lack of activation
Scott having an activated copy run in a VM. I don't know.
