Hi LUGers,

   SF-LUG meets on first Sunday of every month from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary Boulevard.

    If you have a problem come along and maybe we can help but
if not we can usually find someone who can.   If you cannot make
it to the meeting send us an email about your problem and you
will have some of the most knowledgeable people about Linux
giving you answers.

LINUX VOICE
• Scribus:  Free desktop publishing
• Puppy Linux: Bionic Pup
• maddog on (the) FreedomBox - very small personal server using Debian
software
on a variety of inexpensive SBCs.   Not to be confused with the TV
FreedomBox.

FOSSPicks

• Heaptrack - memory usage

Tutorials
• WordPress 5
• 3D Print Tools  - Central is having a small sale on 3D printers by the
way.

     And much more, including Maker Space, and Charly's Column on
managing multiple systems at home.
     Also slightly old news that is of some interest to me at least.

     Nev versions of distributions added to the library:
Kali, Manjaro, 4MLinux, Condres, LXDE, Linux Lite, OSGeo,

*checksums done and passed.
FD - written to Flash Drive.

     If anyone wants a 32-bit distribution I will
need advance warning though I have at least
one on DVD

     Linux Lite 4.6 linux-lite-4.6-64bit.iso* FD
<http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/news.html>

     4MLinux-30.0-32bit.iso*
     4mServer-30.0-64bit.iso *
Neither of these will fit on a CD any longer.
There is also a tiny core for people who want to work
with embedded systems.

<https://4mlinux-releases.blogspot.com/>

     Kali 2019.3  has 32 bit versions as well
kali-linux-2019.3-amd64.iso*
kali-linux-light-2019.3-amd64.iso*
kali-linux-large-2019.3-amd64.iso*
<https://www.kali.org/releases/kali-linux-2019-3-release/>
Kali Linux Default root Password is toor
Default root Password
During installation, Kali Linux allows users to configure a password for
the root user.
However, should you decide to boot the live image instead, the i386,
amd64, VMWare
and ARM images are configured with the default root password – “toor“,
without the quotes.

     Condres 2019.09
<https://condresos.codelinsoft.it/index.php/blog/release-condres-os-official-version-2019-09-available>
   9 versions!
condres_os-19.09-kde.iso*

lxle-18043-32.iso*
lxle-18043-64.iso*  FD
> LXDE Linux designed for older lower specification machines.
> LXLE is the most systematically and carefully prepared distribution
> I've ever used. Everything is optimal for 7-10 year old laptops and
> works from the box.  Thank you very much! ~Ognjen

Osgeolive 13 is full of map tools and coordinates
osgeolive-13.0-amd64.iso*

manjaro-kde-18.1.0-stable-x86_64.iso* FD

CentOS  two basic versions released.
     CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1908.iso*  large DVD sized iso file
     CentOS-8-x86_64-1905-boot.iso*
    CentOS-Stream-x86_64-boot.iso*
You can read about the basic distinctions between these on
www.distrowatch.com or follow the links to the full release
notes.  Stream version is sort of a rolling release.
     In addiction two iso files sized for Flash Drives only
were released and I downloaded neither as the users who
are involved with CentOS would be able to get these for
their use.

Parrot 4.7 has several variants including for use in Virtual
machines and in 32 bit machines.  They have much smaller
net install versions of all.  I got these two KDE versions
     Parrot-kde-home-4.7_x64.iso*
     Parrot-kde-security-4.7_x64.iso*
home version is about 1.9 GB
security is about 4.0 GB

emmabuntus-de3-amd64-buster-1.00.iso*
a distro for older machines but still over 3 GB

     Linux From Scratch has new volumes out
<http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/news.html>
These are relatively small volumes and even people with a dial-up
connection should be able to get
them downloaded but in case someone wants them I have gotten all of them
with systemd and
without and Beyond Linux From Scratch.

     I got a few more things and if time permits may have a few more at the
meeting.  If you are interested in any of these then let me know ASAP.

     Lots of beta releases of Ubuntu and its related spins.

     Hope to see you at the meeting.
