Thanks, probably should have better written part of my above snippet as
"Also cannot help noting from the Cal OCF lab's list of mirrored distros
at [02] that _no_ other systemd-free distros are currently available *at*
*that* *site* other than perhaps FreeBSD and OpenBSD."
DistroWatch itself has a 'Search Distributions' feature at [07], whereby
one can specifically select "Linux" for OS Type and "Not systemd" for Init
software in order to view its selection of the most popular non-systemd
distros.
FWIW, systemd-free distros I'm most interested in at the present time are
the Debian-derived Devuan Linux [08], the non-derivative runit-init Void
Linux [09], and the Arch-derived OpenRC/runit -init Artix Linux [10].
As far as the impending Stable release of Buster this weekend, it's likely
last-minutey to also mention that the Debian devs have put out a general
Call for help [11] for testing the latest Buster release images/builds on
Saturday itself -- official coordinated testing webpage here [12].
The official Buster r0 installer images/builds are available via [13] and
the live images are available via [14].
Note that I've already posted a link within [01] for some of these very
"latest Buster images" of the "non-free
'firmware-testing-amd64-i386-netinst' weekly build[s] for both
amd64(64bit) and i386(32bit) machines" [15].
Lastly (in this particular posting), Rick M has his useful Debian FAQ at
[16], including a description of the means of converting systemd-init into
the "excellent dependency-based init system" OpenRC [17] (IMNSHO, hope
that this is all still completely valid with Debian 10 Buster!)
