Yeah, I wasn't able to figure out how to get into a command prompt in the
time that I had the Chromebook, and then when I did see how to do it, I
noticed that getting a command prompt requires the user to go into
"developer mode" and there are warnings about how going into developer mode
could cause the ChromeOS auto updates to stop working or something like
that. Because it was not my machine, I didn't want to fool around with it,
because the user is an even more unsophisticated user than me, and needs
the absolute simplicity of a Chromebook.
So it's back to the drawing board. I am going to try the mic on a
different machine that has a more updated version of Lubuntu and thus
presumably a more updated kernel as well, and hope that something will pop
out at me. Thanks again to everyone who replied on this thread.
