A default distro installation almost certainly includes software you don't
want and omits software you do want. This is true irrespective of
Linux distribution, and this fact has been all over the Internet for 23
years.
I really have no idea why so many people think they're done when the
distro installer terminates. That's a little like acting surprised when
your new automobile stops on the highway, and astonished that you should
also be mindful of this 'fuel' stuff.
