Hi, Maestro.

_If_ you still have a video problem (something you didn't address):

1. Would you mind posting the output of 'lspci | grep VGA', please?
2. Also, the specific model of your Toshiba? You should find it on
    the case.
3. Please upload the following to pastebin.com:
    (a) /var/log/dmesg
    (b) If there is one, the latest /var/log/X.org*.log file (by timestamp).
And then post the pastebin.com URL.

FYI, there are a number of Linux distros that deliberately omit
proprietary drivers and in some cases proprietary firmware packages by
default, and you need to take manual steps such as enabling non-free
repository access to overcome that default. Debian is one such
distribution. Ubuntu also does that to a degree. My favourite live-CD
distro, aptosid, also does this. It's something to be aware of.

Um, OK. I'll assume for now that the problem is solved.

If you encounter further problems, e.g., when you attempt to run X11,
please let the mailing list know.

Glad that worked, but, FYI, there was no need to reboot just because you
added two packages, added a package source, and refreshed the package
indexes.
