[sf-lug] X crashes when I try to rotate an external display

Good Morning,

I have a Thinkpad T61 with Nvidia graphics running Ubuntu 14.10. I use
nvidia-settings to control external monitors.

I have an external monitor standing vertically (portrait mode) since it
occupies less desk space and works well for long documents. However, when I
ask nvidia-settings to rotate that display 90 degrees X crashes.

How might I try to resolve this?

I prefer command line to GUI.

Thanks,
Michael
