I note DD-WRT's unusually severe copyright-violation problems.
Tomato is restrictively licensed:
FWIW, a recent checkout of svn head code for OpenWRT runs great on the
pair of Linksys WRT54G v.3 units I recently received as gifts. After
setting up both with OpenWRT, I gave one to EBLUG, which now uses it at
that group's meetings, and use one at CABAL.
