I would recommend against Dell. In my experience, their case 
construction on laptops is not very durable. if this machine is not 
going to be used on the go, then please disregard. I have been running 
Ubuntu on Thinkpads for a few years now and have never had any sorts of 
problems. They have very solid case builds. More on the expensive side, 
but really worth it.
