> Exempt Duties and Responsibilities:
>
> •Setup and configuration and maintenance of Linux web servers. 
> Includes hardware building
> •Apache installation and configuration
> •Installation of RPM packages including compilation
> •Installation of Perl packages
> •Network troubleshooting.
> •Works with log files, error logs and debugging tools.
>  •Maintains CVS or code generation in assigned projects
> •Installation and maintenance of production systems, including web 
> servers, data base servers, mail servers, web log and statistics 
> servers, Samba servers, storage devices.
>  •Installation and maintenance of routers and switches. Familiarity 
> with Cisco products essential.
> •Maintain VPN (Cisco 3000)
>  •Maintain FoundryIron Load balancer. Install new versions as necessary
>  •Installation and maintenance firewalls and other security devices
> •Installation and maintenance of storage devices including raid and 
> Network Appliance Storage devices. •Installation of patches and 
> software for systems and networking products,
> •Backup [full and incremental]. Assists with data retrieval, and 
> storage rotation of backup systems.
> •Installing Apache 1.3.9 and 2.0 Mysql, Perl and Oracle.
> •Installation support and configuration of Sendmail and Exim.
>  •Installation and maintenance of desktop systems, and desktop support 
> systems, including Windows 2000 Professional,Mac OS 9 & 10, and Linux
> •Mail support Sendmail and University of Washington [UW] Pop/Imap 
> mail, and Spamassassin
> •Installation of software such as Filemaker Pro, Macromedia Homesite, 
> Adobe Photoshop.
>  •Desktop helpdesk and trouble ticketing.
> •Printer maintenance
> •Write automation tools using shell scripting and Perl as appropriate.
>  •Document procedures and train members of the organization in 
> essential maintenance.
>  
>
> Non-Essential Duties:
> • Participate in Capital Budget Planning and Capital Requisitions.
> • Participate in user testing.
> • Participate in technical advisory roles.
>  • Help desk documentation.
> • Network troubleshooting. Knowledge/Experience Required:
> •Ability to manage multiple task in a fast-paced agency environment
> •Extremely strong written and verbal/presentation skills.
> •Strong ability to create essential documentation including help and 
> supporting document.
> •Ability to work within 7/24 on call environment and past experience 
> with support and troubleshooting enduser/desktop problems.
> •Ability to travel to  data center in Santa Clara (need own vehicle) 
> Credentials
>
> Required: BS in Computer Science or equivalent Licenses:RedHat, Cicso, 
> FoundryIron, NetworkAppliance certifications a plus
>
> Essential Skills Required:
> • Knowledge of hardware Intel and Solaris
> • Knowledge of Cisco routers switches and firewalls including 
> comprehensive knowledge of Cisco IOS.
> • Knowledge of Redhat Linux and Solaris including patching
> • Knowledge of MySQL. Knowledge of Oracle.
> • Knowledge of load balancers especially FoundryIron.
> • Knowledge in configuring Network Appliance Storage Devices
>  • Knowledge and experience in Perl and scripting
>  • Knowledge and experience in installing Apache 1.3.9 and 2.0
>  • Solid understanding of system administration on Windows MAC and 
> Linux.
>  • Helpdesk skills.
>  • Understanding of backups.
>  • Experience in desktop support.
> • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact 
> professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff
> • Ability to work productively in teams
