Ron,
The Nokia 770 relies on Wi-fi and/or Bluetooth for connectivity. No
satellites involved. So, you will need to be near a Wi-Fi access point
(as at Javacat) or use Bluetooth to your cell phone and out from there.
The Nokia 770 is not supposed to replace the nomadic coverage of
cellphones.
