To be very clear:  I was specifically _not_ pushing any personal
recommendations in this context, as that was specifically not what was
requested and would (deservedly) be out of bounds at a Proposition
Party.

The widespread American habit of assuming by default that people are
available for being harangued has long struck me as noxious, and I am at
some pains to do otherwise.  Thank you for, in the future, recognising
that distinction.

If I attend the described Proposition Party, I will almost
ostentatiously stick to the event's ground rules of elucidating the
nature of what is at issue and omitting my personal views as simply 
uninvited and irrelevant to the occasion.  It's a courtesy thing.
