Elisa,
Your home electrical has me thinking.
1) Over time and 1000's of uses the metal in the receptacles looses its "springiness". and no long grips the prongs on the plug. Replacement parts are $5 at any hardware. Wall switches can also wear out and need replacing. I"ve had to have several of each replaced.
2) There is something serious in the wiring which could eventually cause a fire. This isn't likely, but you want to consider it before it is a disaster.
