During my working years I was fortunate enough to work for a brilliant
research scientist who happened to be a Jew and he was proud of it in a
self-deprecating way. He was the funniest comedian I ever met as well
and a real joy to work for. I am very proud to have known him. He
often talked about his father turning off the lights on Friday night by
accidentally walking into the switch. My parents had friends who
survived the holocaust, I'll never understand it, never.

But not Americans as a whole, and particularly not Americans with melanin, Americans with a second X chromosome or some odd chromosome mix, Americans who prefer romantic/sexual relationships with their own gender, Americans who'd like to get an abortion, Americans who'd prefer not to have children, Americans with special needs. Etc.
