"Yad" is Hebrew for "place". My entirely secular and
half-century-disussed tourist Hebrew from 1980 when I was a volunteer
kibbutznik is not helping me guess what "vegor" might be (especially as
your neighbours might have said something a little different).

I will never, ever suggest my Jewish friends are paranoid in fearing
this. Nobody ever sought to mass-murder sarcastic, left-handed
Norwegian-Americans.
(Well, not yet, anyway.)
An excellent argument can always be made that having a second passport
around and ready to go is good insurance, especially if you're in any of
the groups likely to be included in those lists.
