A logical question is "Why did Edisons lab end up in MI?"
The answer is rather simple.
Henry Ford started out as a steam engineer for the Edison Co, building
small steam powered DC power plants all over the pplace for Edison.

Digressing here:
DC is not efficient for long distance distribution unless you wind it up to
close to a megavolt.
That was OK because the losses would cause more generating stations to be
built.
Teslas AC idea would have cut down on the number of generating plants
Edison would sell, so of COURSE Edison had to ruin Tesla.

Anyway, Ford enjoyed camping, but in style.
You might say that Ford invented "Glamping", complete with china, crystal &
silver on large tables with table cloths etc.
The servers arrived first to set everything up before Ford and his party
arrived, and sometimes crystal chanedliers were hung from trees for dinner.
A fleet of Ford trucks delivered the portable kitchen, furnished tents, the
meal service and the army of servants.
The party sometimes included Edison, usually the botanist Luther Burbank,
the Firestones (rubber fame) and a number of other celebrities I cant
recall at the moment.

When the Ford organization created Greenfield Village, they salvaged
buildings from the empires of all their friends, including Edison, Burbank
and others.

To this DAY, the work and even the NAME of Tesla are not to be spoken at
the museum.
