It's a bad habit to send test messages to an active mailing list.  And
also unnecessary.

Persons who suspect they have problems with their e-mail setups, such as
Texx had where for weeks on end he couldn't figure out how to disable
Avast advertising, should test _elsewhere_.  One obvious way would be to
send _yourself_ test messages, and see how they arrive.

Another way to solve that problem is to use a dedicated 'test' mailing
list.  My server, SVLUG's mailing list server, and BALUG's mailing list
server all include Mailman mailing lists called 'test' for that exact
purpose, for example.
