I've had one of these for almost 8 yrs.. HP LaserJet 1320n Laser Printer http://www.amazon.com/HP-LaserJet-Monochrome-Network-Printer/dp/B0002UM0OW/ was like $700 new, but appears to sell used/refurbished for less than $200. it's been bullet-proof for me (light duty setting), and seems reasonably well-supported linux-wise.
