I guess I'll just never understand these people. Do they just lob off
e-mails in random directions to strangers every time they have a
problem, and keep on firing until someone takes pity on them? How
pitiful.

I found your amazing tool to convert PDF to HTML and XML files which does also image extraction.
I think it is really good tool which I am really looking for.
Thanks for your work!
I also wonder about lattes XPDF library update and might be better to update existing tool to be even better.
I have just one an additional thing which would like to ask you ? how hard will be include to the generated XML file image name with location? If it is not really hard to do.

Much as I'd love to say "You're welcome", I'm afraid you've made an
error. Two of them in a row, actually.

The first was immediately after you followed a hyperlink from one of
thousands of software-project Web sites -- none of which I have anything
to do with -- to a self-help essay I co-wrote with Eric S. Raymond
called "How to Ask Questions the Smart Way".

You didn't _read_ our essay. If you had done so, you'd have known,
again, that Eric and I have nothing whatsoever to do with whatever piece
of software you're trying to use. In fact, there's a warning just under
the table of contents saying please do _not_ write the essay co-authors
for help with any of the untold thousands of software projects that
hyperlink to our essay.

So, the first error was to disregard all that and write to me and/or
Eric personally for help with something -- some "amazing tool"
presumably called PDF2HTML -- that we have nothing to do with.

Having written to my author e-mail link at the top of the essay, you got
a robot response from my autoresponder, which said, basically, "Hi, I'm
responding on behalf of Rick Moen. Odds are, you've made a small
mistake in writing Rick for help with some project that links to his
essay. That won't get you anywhere -- but you're very welcome to send
him mail about the _essay_, which you can send to rick at linuxmafia.com."

So, you sent me mail at rick at linuxmafia.com -- but not about the essay,
and ignoring the autoresponder's warning not to do that.

So, here we are.

I'm curious: Why did you choose to disbelieve and utterly disregard
what my autoresponder said? Did you think I was kidding when I said I
had nothing to do with anything but the essay?

Good luck with PDF2HTML, but you really should pay a bit more attention.
