[Sorry to slightly mess up threading. I had already deleted Adrien's
posting from my local mail.]

I quote from the release announcement of today's Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty
Fawn" Herd 3 beta:

   Simpler Multimedia

Easy Codec Installation has been implemented in Feisty Fawn Herd 3,
When trying to play media files, Ubuntu will try to install the
necessary codecs automatically, and start playing the desired file.

(I have no doubt that the above is i386-only.)

The weekend weather's looking to be utterly glorious, and I look forward
to seeing people, Saturday evening. Early-comers are welcome to join me
for some Peet's Arabian Mocha Sanani, fresh-ground and then brewed in the
Infamous Portuguese Coffeemaker of Doom.
