1.  It'd be useful to know where you looked.
2.  It'd be useful to know what ATI card / chipset this is.
3.  It'd be useful to know  what Knoppix version he tried, and why he 
    thinks it doesn't "work".  (E.g., maybe he just has a really recent 
    ATI chip and wants really fast 3D.)
4.  It'd be useful to know why Knoppix.  (Morphix, for example, is designed 
    specifically to be remastered and adapted easily.  Also, the Games 
    Knoppix DVD probably has more cutting-edge video drivers.)

So, it's a little difficult to give you a _good_ answer.  That having been
said....
