i'm actually impressed at what happened next as it
made grub-ing the lilo distro's trivial and i do need
to use a seperate /boot occasionally if i'm to avoid
the drive that won't boot any more or start an os
above 100g on my production box or 128g on the other -
amusing story though.  i expect 2bring cookies 2cabal.
