chromebook 11 3190 Laptop to Linux
remove 7 screws on the laptop bottom (2 are hidden by screw covers)
gently pry off the bottom cover
look for write protect screw, it is silk screened on the motherboard with the words WP Screw. remove the screw
replace bottom cover and power up the machine to make sure all is ok
press esc,restart and power button
press Ctrl-D
to turn off os verification off press enter
press ctrl-d again
your system is transitioning to developer mode, this may take five minutes
os verification is off
press ctrl-d
machine reboots into chromeos
sign in to the network and follow the prompts to get to a normal screen
press ctrl-alt-rightarrow to get to the developer console
at the local host login prompt type chronos and press enter
you will see the $ prompt
type
cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh and press enter
if the command doesn’t work, check for a typo, it is a tedious string to type
at the utility script, select option 2 and press enter
press y to continue
press y to continue
type n to skip backup
wait about 90 seconds for next prompt
press enter to return to main menu
press R to reboot
after about two minutes, you should see the rabbit prompt and the boot will fail as there is NO OS !
press enter
type exit
insert bootable linux distro and restart
select boot menu
select boot for usb stick
you should be able to install Linux!
