[sf-lug] Power outage: balug.org, sf-lug.org, berkeleylug.com, etc.

More than 75 minutes
overdue per PG&E's estimate, I peeked, and
I'm guestimating yet another hour, perhaps 2 or more.

Oh, just in as I was composing this,
updated PG&E estimate of 3:01am PST.

They've replaced the power (telephone) pole,
but still have two (redundancy) sets of full grounding loops clamped on the
high voltage lines,
don't yet have the high voltage lines even in the first (of two) directions
secured to their insulator support posts,
were just getting the last (I think) support bar that runs that direction
up and mounted as I was having a look,
and they still have to do the all the support bars that run the other
(perpendicular) direction.
So, thinking it's going to be some while yet.
Yeah, the hit pole, not on simple linear run, but where two runs cross by
intersection.

And of course PG&E hiccups, Xfinity / Comcast [Business] goes down too, so
guessing that takes about an extra 10 minutes to get back online after PG&E
restores power.

Some folks suck at driving. 'bout a week ago,
two blocks from there, and same intersection hit-and-run driver hit me,
someone, apparently single vehicle accident, hit and quite damaged a
pedestrian safety street light pole (added more recently than I was hit).
They were going so fast, long skid of well over 1/2 block, perhaps over 2/3
block - quite the loud squeal of brakes - could hear it quite the distance
- yet even after that, still going so fast - major damage to that pole, and
quite the debris field of car parts they left behind too.
