LWN comments tend to get deep into the weeds on these matters involving
longtime conflicts and differences of view.  Also, if memory serves, 
most articles and related comments are viewable only by us subscribers
until 8 days have passed since release of the related weekly edition.
So, I'm pretty sure you cannot read those two linked pages _now_
without a current LWN subscription, but will be able to read it pretty
soon.
