Hi LUGers

10:56 AM I signed on a bit early.

Eventually and shortly after 11 AM Ken S. showed up and in
a few more minutes we were joined by John S. We had
to let John leave for a shower and as he left ken shared
a SF-LUG ghost story as we were joined by Victor who
has survived Covid

John asked about Tinycore and I had some brief uninformative
remarks from my experience running it in VirtualBox.
John had gotten a late version of Zorin but he had failed to
boot it.

Victor showed up to ask Unix question of Ken. About
Sort function which has been changed since his book
was printed. It offers more options for sorting it
seems. He left around noon.

Alex showed up using his mobile phone to logon which
makes it difficult for him to enter his name. By Noon he
had left. Without a name entry he was "Fellow Jitser" but
I may have misspelled the second alias.

Aaron C. came by and is showing us the meeting notice
I posted and he is investigating Ventoy, a USB solution
to produce multiple installs of LIVE iso files on the
Flash Drive.

I did not have much applicable news for the Group
but a repository is being discontinued by Canonical

We need: Someone, suggested a Focus Group to see why the mailing list
is so inactive. I said that a Focus Group to replace me as convener
would be more helpful. Groups can convene on the mailing list and
go to the< https://meet.jit.si/sf-lug.org> for in person discussions.

Ken left about 12:20 and I don't much blame him. Not much happening
today.

A bit of Chat at the meeting.
Aaron - Here's something for your meeting notes, Bobbie:
Patrick J. Volkerding of Sebeka,MI _finally_ released Slackware 15.0 last wk
http://www.slackware.com/announce/15.0.php he had already as had I,
check-summed this "older" distro 😃

and 11:53 And I responded in my rough way that i had already downloaded
Slackware 15 and also done the checksum.
But Zenwalk based on Slackware 15 looks more interesting.

End of Aaron chat.

And Absolute Linux is out overnight. Absolute is also based on
Slackware 15.0

Apparently the new year had seen a lot more activity on the part of
packagers and coders.

Aaron left at 12:57 and John disconnected at about the same time.
I will still there when Ron BC came along having slept in on a
lovely day. He has recently gotten a new hard disk as the
old one expired and he has updated to 20.04.

1:05 PM we signed off.

I was going to include more information but I got
too tired every day since the meeting to do so and this
is all you get unless the meeting attendees want to
add to this.

	Bobbie Sellers
