Hi LUGers,
Well I logged on a bit after 11 AM as I was hungry and toasting
two slices of
Gluten Free Raisin bread took a bit longer than I had hoped.
John S. was already there when i got to the computer.
Wayne from Santa Cruz of the Felton-LUG was next to show up .
Ken S. and momentary glimpses of Sunni his wife. Actually she
stopped by and waved at all of us.
Victor from San Francisco
Michael Paoli then came along
Tom using two screens
Akkana P. from New Mexico
Aaron C, from the East Bay.
Topics that were raised included Smart Phones and Tom needed help with
his 4K Monitor.
Wayne swears by the Moto G Power which is either wonderfully
economical on
battery power or has a very high specification battery. It is supposed
to run for 3
days on a full charge but he says that he is getting 8 days.
Akkana brought up the Pixel 4. as a desirable model at a low price.
John pointed out that his IPad will not transmit text messages to
the Android
phone of his son. A problem with the messaging protocol is suggested
and may
offer a solution by changing from the sms to mms protocols.
We spent a lot of time talking about Covid-19 vaccines. How long
it will
take before we can once again travel away from our home without masks and
how long it will be before international travel can be resumed. We might
have
Californians vaccinated by September but before international travel can
take
place the rest of the world has be vaccinated as well.
Tom raised the question about his 4k monitor which under Ubuntu did
not give
usable display on the high density monitor. We tried various answers
and he got
the fonts displaying properly then finally the icons. Using my other
computer
the Dell E6540 I was looking up answer and alternative answers.
I think it was Michael who suggested updating the display density
to one
more proper to the display in use.
Oh and he was using two screens for some time to display the
Raspberry Pi
screen and to interface with us on the other. The RP screen was
forwarded to his
laptop. It looked very nice.
Michael P. Was working on updates on various servers as we talked.
1:06 PM I signed off leaving behind Michael P, Akkana P. and Aaron C
if I have not gotten confused.
So if anyone wants to get their two cents in as to how I
misunderstood the
proceeding please do so ASAP.
The next scheduled Virtual Meeting for SF-LUG will be on Sunday
February 7
from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Have a good, safe week.
