[sf-lug] debian vs ubuntu question

Well, the reported bad update problem (on some earlier thread) was with
the 4.18 kernel, which is a 9 month support kernel. This is now the
default on Ubuntu 18.10 and 18.04.2, but the original long term support
kernel, 4.15, is still avail on the Ubuntu 18.04.1 release. Unless you
need the later kernel, or are willing to put up with a 9 month update cycle
on the latest Hardware Enablement Stack (with the latest 9 month kernel),
stick with the 4.15 kernel. The only problems I had with Ubuntu 18.04, I
also had with 16,04 (systemd related), so either would be OK for your
stated needs. The biggest difference you would see is the desktop, which of
course may be changed.
