All such problems can be eliminated by using copy/paste rather than
attempting to remember and retype.  E.g., go to the console, become
root, and use bash to verify that the referenced file in command
'/etc/init.d/networking restart' exists.  (Or, better yet, test-run the
command.)

One of the major reasons why people fail to get technical help is
failing to provide _raw data_, which is what's needed for diagnosis,
and instead post misleading rough approximations and inaccurate
recollections.  Which just wastes time.

Of course, it would also have been nice if you were suggesting
restarting networking for an actual reason, but that's a separate issue.
