Hi LUGers,
Another very small meeting.
I arrived at the Cafe Enchante about 5:40 PM and Aaron C. was there
already.
Aaron was trying to setup his net book to connect via Ethernet to
his 3 Rasberry Pi 3
devices. He continue through half the meeting to attempt this feat.
I got setup and got online without problems.
Someone sent me the news about Paul Allen which I shared with Aaron.
6:45 Joseph P. showed up and seemed to enjoy the discussion and the
latest Linux Pro magazine. He borrowed it so I will only say that it
featured
on DVD a searchable archive of all 214 previous issues and the biggest item
on the cover was Privacy!
Late in the meeting I made a bootable Flash Drive featuring the 32 bit
version of Calculate Linux version 18. Aarom tried amiably to get it
booted
up on his netbook but I had left it too late not really understanding
the amount
of time it would take on the slower processor.
Calculate is based on Gentoo and the example i made uses KDE Plasma 5.
I also have Mageia 6.1 in Plasma 5 for amd64 and in Xfce for i586.
Relative to this I bought a box of 10, 4 Gigabyte Flash Drives and
will be
using them in demos of the better releases in the future.
Anyone attending the meeting is free to correct my omissions or
incomprehension of the activities and asked to do so asap so that the
membership not in attendance will not be mis-informed any longer
than necessary.
Now the next meeting will be in November on Sunday, the 4th of the
month. My notice of that meeting will be up about the 29th of October.
Daylight Saving Time will end at 2 am the morning of 4 November 2018.
Enjoy Halloween and/or Día de los Muertes.
Don't forget to vote.
