Hi LUGers.

   SF-LUG meets every third Monday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
and every first Sunday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary Boulevard.

These meetings are usually lightly attended with a high for the
year so far of 7 members.   If you have a problem come along
and maybe we can help but if not we can usually find someone
who can.

While (9/7/18) I write this not I still have not gotten my Internet
connection back.  It has been sort of like a vacation but not to
the place I like to visit but when I get the net connection back
again I will be happier.  I have spent literally hours on the
phone with DSLExtreme technical support and earlier today
they started working on the idea that AT&T may have something
to do with the problem but AT&T hasn't done anything about
it yet.  Maybe tomorrow.  Maybe in time to download the latest
Linux Mint Debian.  It was up when i downloaded the latest
Gparted last week but the time at the Cafe Enchante even though
I got there an hour early was not enough for LMDE.

I did get another modem but for some reason it was not helpful
at restoring the connection.
It turned out that my problem was with AT&T but with the proper
stimulus from the big customer, DSLExtreme.com's Technical
Support, it was fixed on Saturday afternoon 09/08/18 @ 4:30 PM.

     So I have gotten lmde-3-201808-cinnamon-64bit.iso
  as well as mde-3-201808-cinnamon-32bit.iso downloaded
and have checked the sha256 sums.   These will be at the
meeting.  If you want more infomation about these Debian
based distributions yoo can easily go to
<https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3633>

I will also have Redcore Hardened 18.06 which is based
in Gentoo and uses LXQT as DE.  This was reviewed in
Distrowatch and you can go there to see that review.
<https://distrowatch.com/> in the Distrowatch Weekly
newsletter #779.

Found an interesting new release with some nice features
Elive 3.0 which is a release for 32 bit machines designed
for USB or for DVD and I may download one or the other
but so far I have found no checksums and no package
list.  At some effort I have posted a note to the creator
and maybe he will have a usable response.
<https://www.elivecd.org/#>
Went back to look and checksums posted for both
the USB and DVD versions.
Will have the USB version on a drive at the
meeting for any who care to try out Enlightenment Live.
The publisher also sent me a nice note and assures me that
this distro does not use systemd.

Also I have gotten SystemRescueCD 5.3.0-x86
and will have several copies at the meeting.

Hope to see a few of us next Monday Evening
at the Cafe Enchante.
