Hi LUGers,
SF-LUG meets every third Monday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
and every first Sunday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary Boulevard.
These meetings are usually lightly attended with a high for the
year so far of 7 members. If you have a problem come along
and maybe we can help but if not we can usually find someone
who can.
I have downloaded an interesting sounding distribution.
Void Linux which Aaron may have mentioned at the last meetings.
I sort of ignored it on Distrowatch. This URL will take you
to their site: <http://www.voidlinux.eu/>
I have both the i686 and the amd64 versions downloaded
check-summed and written to CDs..
void-live-i686-20170220-mate.iso &
void-live-x86_64-musl-20170220-mate.iso
I tried it out live and will be happy to show it off to
anyone interested but will not be installing it.
You should read the documentation before
thinking about installing this system.
Another distribution receiving the same treatment is
Bodhi Linux <http://www.bodhilinux.com/>
bodhi-4.2.0-legacy.iso fits on a CD and
bodhi-4.2.0-apppack-64.iso on a DVD.
I will have both of these at the meeting
Linux Mint 18.2-beta in the 64 bit version is out
and downloaded but the 32 bit version if it exists
is not yet available. Anyone who wants to play with
a Beta should let me know and I will run off a copy.
Also released for people interested in professional
Audio production is the KXStudio 14.04.5 Live-DVD
which is an Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS based Live-DVD,
used to test-drive KXStudio and/or install it to
your HDD.
It contains a snapshot of the KXStudio features
as 09/06/2017. It uses KDE4 as Desktop Environment.
*Please* make sure to read the Release Notes before
using this product.
<http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Downloads#LiveDVD>
KXStudio 14.04.5 Live-DVD - 32bit and
KXStudio 14.04.5 Live-DVD - 64bit.
.If anyone wants copies of this let me know
ASAP.
On Saturday the 10th of June I was able to buy
a Linux Pro Magazine issue #199 for June 2017
It has two articles on systemd. One is how to
use GUI tools to control it and the other by
Klaus Knopper is about removing it from a
distribution as he is building Raspberry Knoppix.
The distributions are CentOS 7 in 64 bit version
and Linux Mint 18.1 in 32 bit version. Besides
that is a longer article about using Regular
Expression language. As always there is too
much to talk about in this article.
I hope to see some of us next Monday at the
Cafe Enchante. Will your Flag being flying on
the 14th?
Oh and all you guys have a Happy Father's Day.
Bobbie Sellers
