5:35 pm Arrived to find Maestro sitting at the big table as a tutor
worked across the table so I setup first at one of the small tables.
No problems with the setup or with getting online.
I had installed Alpine Linux in a Virtual Box on PCLinuxOS64.
running on my Dell E-6420. I had tried to run the setup scripts but
had some problems getting them to work so no further advance on the
AL. Will investigate further.
6 pm + Tutor and student left and I moved over to the big table.
Maestro moved to the same side and wanted a copy of PCLinuxOS
either on disk or on a Flash Drive, I produced both but neither would
boot though the BIOS was set for removable devices.
In discussion with Antonio and Jim, Maestro was wondering about
a FOSS system to deal with web mail.
Maestro took home the January copy of Linux Pro magazine. He
seems to be a bit pumped over Diaspora a FOSS version of a Social
Media.
6:10 pm Antonio showed up next to his 1st LUG meeting ever and
he uses Fedora.
6:30 Tom showed up. He wants to install Wine but first he had
to update his distribution. He does not have internet access at home
so he ended up with 400+ updates and left later than most of us.
He was interested in a few of the DVDs I had on hand and was left
with several.
6:35 Shari M. came in to return a book I had lent her and to
ask about configuration on her installation of PCLinuxOS. She stayed
only a short time then took off before 7:10 when Jim S. showed up.
Because Tom was very busy with those updates we stuck around
the Cafe Enchante until long after 8 PM but finally left him at the
table waiting until the cafe closed to leave
Jim gave Maestro a ride downtown and myself to my home.
So if anyone has corrections or emendations to my account to
who was at the meeting please get them published before my errors
infect the thought processes of the membership.
Next meeting at the Cafe Enchante will be on February 5, 2017.
