Heh, this is funny...
I have exactly the opposite!

There have been quite some changes, to Google's services, since I set up
the domain, so there's likely something in the settings I need to adjust.

Not too worried about it, really.

With GApps, my domain is the _only_ domain offered in the GMail app. No
gmail.com at all.
