Browsers have native settings to do this. Firefox defaults to
doing so on all sites except ones you whitelist under Options,

If you've somehow turned off the global default, visit Tools, Options,
Content tab, then ckeck checkbox 'Block pop-up windows'.
Other browsers have similar settings.

I'm glad you like that, but IMO that's about as useful as putting up a
'please do not litter' sign in places where people feel an incentive to
litter.
