Bobbie S and/or others could certainly do a much better
writeup of yesterday's SF-LUG meetup[01] than myself,
as I did arrive late at Cafe Enchante (at ~12Noon.)

Previously, Bobbie S mostly wrote at [01]
~~~ mostly quoting ~~~
Quirky 8.0 (Puppy) Xerus64 using Ubuntu repositories.
...
...
(whole list of 'buntu distros)
...
...
I have a few other distributions with me as well including late
versions of the Mandriva derived forks I use regularly Mageia 5 and PCLinuxOS 2016.03
Mageia by the way is out of France where Mandriva was publshed originally.
PCLOS is a USA effort that started before Mandriva failed. PCLinuxOS 201.03
I am using at the moment with KDE's Plasma version 4.14.18. Also Knoppix.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bobbie S also graciously provided me a copy of the
GParted LiveCD v0.26.0-1 i686 PAE ;
0.26.0-1 gparted-live-0.26.0-1-i686.iso[02]

I myself spent the little time I was at Cafe Enchante
running SHA256 "checksums" on the newly-released
Devuan[03] Jessie 1.0.0 distro ISO beta versions I
previously downloaded from [04].

Also had to spend a bit of time trying to resolve
an error message[05] in the Tint2 lightweight
panel/taskbar[06] under CrunchBang's[07] Openbox
WM[08].
As I would rather prefer to use a more updated
Debian Wheezy distro than CrunchBang (see [07]),
I might replace CB with a much more recently
updated Wheezy[09] of either the LXDE or XFCE
DE varieties, and then install the Openbox
WM[08] on top of that replacement install.
Before completely replacing the discontinued
CB on my laptops, it makes the most sense to
me to first non-destructively test out the
hardware (display adapter, internal WiFi
adapter...etc) by using a similar-versioned
Wheezy liveCD[10].
MANDATORY backup next of course ;-) (see within [11])

As an FYI, that hotsauce shop I mentioned at the
meetup for we interested chileheads is online
at [12] and their only storefront is in Berkeley[13].
Carefully note: I must duly warn any of you of even
_thinking_ about purchasing the intense Carolina
Reaper chile pepper[14]!!

Best,
-A
