We have a project to start immediately building a website for an
organization.
We want to do it using ALL f.l.o.s.s.(free.libre.open.source.software.)
software.
We'd also like to build a wiki linked to the site(can be done later over
time).
This is NOT a job for hire ad.
Ideally,
It will be an 'open-source' project that those who want to participate in
can and the project can be used as a learning tool in website development
using open-source software.
We are also looking for free/very low priced quality hosting and the
organization is a 5013-C non-profit.
It is also a community theater organization people can participate in.
Hence,
This thread is seeking your combined knowledge in:
The best f.l.o.s.s. software to construct this site with(preferably with a
good amount of templates).
Best free/very inexpensive hosting(don't know size of site yet but
shouldn't be huge).
How to provide a mobile version of the site(all platforms).
How to guarantee it is accessible by those running Tor, I2P, Freenet, et.al.
How to enable audio/video on site securely.
How to secure the site (https, block 'scraping', 'bot' blocking, et.al).
How to use captcha to enter site so no one has to register/join/give any
info.
The site will be .org
This is a thread to get great info and invite you to participate and learn
by doing, share your knowledge, teach, and make a very kewl site for a
great S.F. non-profit theater organization which invites ALL who are
interested to come and do theater productions (heavy on Shakespeare) be it
player, tech, house, food, or other things...
ALL are welcome to participate in the construction of the website and this
will happen via an ongoing thread and file sharing.
Since we won't be meeting as a large group, you will be given admin. access
to the site.
As info comes into this thread it will be tailored to become more specific
'tech-wise'...
Thank you in advance for any and all good knowledge and sharing and welcome
to all that want to participate.
Disclaimer:
In the interest of keeping the SF-LUG mail list UN-congested please stay
on/to this thread.
'IF' we need to create another project thread we will and migrate there.
If I left anything 'important' out, it is completely my fault.
message ends.
