The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding the following meeting:

Presentation:
  PlayOnLinux: a graphical front-end to Wine
  presented by Ronin Dusette

    PlayOnLinux <https://www.playonlinux.com/> is a piece of software
    which allows you to easily install and use numerous games and apps
    designed to run with Microsoft Windows.  A minority of commercial
    games are compatible with Linux at the moment, which can be a factor
    that prevents some users from migrating to it.  PlayOnLinux brings
    a cost-free, accessible and efficient solution to this problem.

    Written in Bash shell and Python, and using wxPython of its
    interface, PlayOnLinux is graphical front-end to Wine, an open source
    "compatibility layer" capable of running Windows applications on
    Linux, Mac OS X and BSD.  Wine translates Windows API calls, which
    eliminates the performance and memory penalties of other methods.
    This means you do not need to own a Windows license to use
    PlayOnLinux!
