Hi Morgan,
I discovered that adding the X intrinsics packages let the ./configure run
on my 12.04 system.  libxt6 and libxt-dev.  Try the whole thing, maybe a
kernel module gets created too.  I don't have a Toshiba, so can't test
anything myself.
