The Linux Users' Group of Davis (LUGOD) will be holding the following meeting:

  Monday
  September 17, 2012
  7:00pm - 9:00pm

Presentation:

  "Riak distributed NoSQL database"
Daniel Reverri, Client Architect, Basho Technologies, Inc.

Riak is an open source, highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed
NoSQL database, implementing the principles from Amazon's Dynamo paper.

Different than traditional relational databases and other NoSQL
non-relational databases, Riak offers a number of unique benefits
to users: it operates in highly-distributed environments ('the
cloud'); it is master-less (no single point of failure); it is highly
fault-tolerant; it makes data highly available; it scales simply and
intelligently; it is incredibly stable; its simple design makes for
  a lower cost of operations.

About the Speaker:

Daniel Reverri is Client Architect at Basho Technologies, which
offers products and services based on Riak. Their customers include
fast-growing web businesses and large Fortune 500 enterprises.
Founded in 2008 by a group of engineers and executives from
Akami Technologies, Inc., Basho is heardquartered in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, with offices in San Francisco, CA,
  Reston, Virginia, and London, England.

This meeting will be held at:

Yolo County Library, Mary L. Stephen's Davis Branch
  Blanchard Community Room
  315 East 14th Street
  Davis, California 95616
