[sf-lug] Zareason laptop problems

I'm interested in the nature of your problem(s) with your Zareason laptop. I also have one that has some annoying qualities:
1. Sporadically and unpredictably, a key I press will remain in auto repeat mode even though I am not holding it down. This continues until such time as another key is hit. Although a relatively minor nuisance most of the time, when using vim it can create complete havoc.
2. When ever the charger is plugged in or unplugged, the screen goes blank and the system demands another log on. Nothing is lost, but this is an annoyance none the less.
To be fair to Zareason, I have not gotten around to making arrangements to take it back to them. These might be easily fixed.
Are your issues anything similar?
On the subject of the Thinkpad T42: I bought one on the recommendation of Asheesh quite a long time ago and have since bought a second one when the first one died. Loading Ubuntu and more recently Fedora has never been a problem. It's as much computer as I needed. I think you'll be very happy with it.

I'm coming in with two laptops this sunday; the new one I bought from Zareason, which has some problems that didn't get resolved (longterm) when I took it back three times. the second one is a thinkpad T42 that has windowsXP installed for school. no longer going to classes, no longer need MS and hoping that this older laptop will handle a new install. And I'm interested in at least a Knoppix disk, and hopefully an Ubuntu one too.
Last summer someone asked me to report on my experience with Zareason. I don't know what to say. Their talk is good though.
Yes the usual low key meeting from 11 AM to 1 PM, nominally,
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary.
