I'm not seeing a beep or pc speaker channel listed when alsamixer comes
up, just these options:

 Master
 Headphon
 PCM
 Line
 Line Jac
 CD
 Mic
 Mic Boos
 Mic Sele
 Video
 Phone
 Aux
 Mono Out
 Capture
 Mix
 Mix Mono
 External
 Stereo M
