the linux system administration study group meets
today at noisebridge (2169 mission near 18th, push
doorbell button to the right of the keylock) from
3 PM to 6 PM. we're currently in the middle of how
to use kickstart, which includes setting some servers
up to respond to a PXE target machine start up: dhcpd
and tftpd and related files.

the linux sys adm study group meets on tuesdays
and fridays from 3 PM to 6 PM regularly at the
noisebridge location. the primary goal is to learn
what's needed to pass either the LPI or the Red Hat
certification test. topics are essential linux system
administration skills: partitioning, filesystems,
networking, user management, daemon configuration....

also, there's a linux discussion group meeting
each wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM or so. format
is freeform, like sf-lug meetings: no speakers or
scheduled aspects, whoever shows up talks and/or
listens (good to do both), shares interests and news,
tries to solve problems....
this is in its startup phase; it would be great if
some ther persons than just me could commit to being
the friendly host on occasional wednesday nights so
i'm not the only person chained to the schedule.
there's no requirement on the part of the host--no
need for expertise of any kind, just be a person who's
there that night. it's a great way to learn things
from others who show up with projects, questions,
problems.... (e.g. someone shows up with questions
that the host doesn't know, both of you search the
internet together to try to find answers; usually
more fun and more effective than working alone.)
