It looks like 'tail -1 filename' will do the trick.  I need to do a bit more work before going further.
 
Briefly, I am working with Trinity Linux Rescue Kit (TRK) trying to use the 'clonexp' procedure.  I ran into a trivial problem and thought I'd suggest a fix to the author.  
 
I'll provide more details as soon as I get a chance to work on this issue.
