[sf-lug] ubuntu server 8.04 doesn't seem to see IDE drives

looks like ubuntu server 8.04 doesn't have a CDROM 
driver that knoppix 3.4 has. how to identify the 
correct cdrom driver and integrate it in the install 
process on a machine that uses CDs and DVDs and 
no floppy? i guess a USB stick might work. 

MATSHITADVD-RAM UJ-840S is the installed DVD/CD-ROM 
burner device.
