[sf-lug] fixed ip address : Network Manager

This issue unfortunately is NOT resolved.
It IS possible to use Network Manager to switch from dhcp assigned to a fixed IP address BUT this DOES NOT survive a restart.
I've done some searching on the web and there is a lot of criticism (perhaps out dated?) of network manager and the problems of using it when a fixed address is required. Apparently disabling Network Manager has other undesirable ramifications and is not easily achieved.

The above not withstanding, I seem to remember, Tom, that you once showed me a simple key stroke short cut to disable (or enable) it. If so can you please refresh my memory?
